PARISH OF ST. PIUS X
Villazar, Sipocot, Camarines Sur

Foundation: 1956
Feastday: January 16

The name Villazar is a contraction of Villafuerte and Zalasar, family names of the two most prominent families in the place.   It was erected as a parish by virtue of a decree issued by His Grace, Most Rev. Pedro P. Santos, D.D., Archbishop of Caceres in July 4, 1956.

The parish has for its patron saint, Saint Pius X.

The creation of a parish was necessitated by the increasing population of the parish of Sipocot, of which Villazar was originally a barrio.   The distance of the place and the needs of other places prevented the proper and adequate pastoral care of the people living in Villazar and neighboring barangays.   So this parish was created. Included within its ecclesiastical jurisdiction are the following barangays: Villazar, Calagbangan, Bigaan, Tula-tula, Sooc, Napolidan, Alanao, Pulang-tuna, Haluban, Bahe, Bolaguin, and Buenasuerte.

The first parish priest was Very Rev. Domingo Halum.   He built the church and the convent.
