Pasacao's strategic location along the rugged coast of the vas expanse of Ragay Gulf in the east make it very important to the economic and social life of the people of the region. It is for this reason that a parish was soon established dedicated to St. Rose of Lima as its patroness. Annually, in honor of the town's patroness a fiesta is celebrated on August 30.
The parish was formerly a missionary post (visita) attended by the Franciscan Friars stationed at Milaor. Although the establishment of the town of Pasacao was effected in the year 1872, its creation as an independent parish took place in 1885. It was His Grace, the Most Rev. Casimiro Herrero, OSA., Bishop of Caceres who issued the decree creating the Parish of St. Rose of Lima.
Upon its canonical erection as an independent parish in 1885, the church of Pasacao, was made of Anahaw roof and bamboo walling. Later it was replaced with a stone church made of bricks the construction of which was begun in 1902 until its completion in 1920. During the world war, the church was damaged considerably, so a reconstruction was initiated by Fr. Clodualdo Villaranda and completed in 1958. During the incumbency of Fr. Francisco Pacis as parish priest in 1965, a new plan was devised by Fr. Vicente Cornejo to build a new church edifice. Intensive and fund-raising programs were planned under the direction of the parish council. The parish council was renamed Church Building Committee to which each religious organization had a representative. Later, the name was changed to Church Construction Committee; and today, it is called Parish Pastoral Council. The annual May Festival graced by the reigning Reina Elena contributed a lot to the construction of the church. We cannot however discredit the valuable contributions given by the different religious organizations, benefactors, sponsors, and donors.
Thus, beginning 1965, the old church was demolished piece by piece, while a new one was gradually constructed until its completion in 1984 through the tutelage of the then Fr. Manuel Ricafort. The efforts of Fr. Manuel Ricafort was also recognized for putting up parish hall which is of great help to the parish.
